Chic on the Halfshell – Free Crochet Purse Pattern Download

A little crochet purse with a big story.

Chic on the Halfshell was one of the early designs that helped shape the journey of The Crochet Dude®, and it remains one of the patterns closest to my heart. With its elegant shell-inspired shaping and timeless silhouette, this small handbag proves that practical can still be beautifully stylish.

Originally released during the early days of The Crochet Dude® blog, this design became the first of my patterns to be featured on Ravelry’s front page during their beta era—a milestone moment that introduced this little purse to makers all over the world.

It was also part of the wonderfully grassroots season of the brand, when I would carry printed copies of the pattern in an acrylic stand and leave them with welcoming local yarn shops during my travels. Real people discovered this design in real yarn stores, one conversation at a time.

Now, as part of celebrating 20 years of The Crochet Dude®, I’m delighted to make this classic pattern available once again as a free download on The Bear & Fox Yarn Den™.
