A Month of Learning at The Bear & Fox Yarn Den™
There is something magical about watching someone learn with their hands.
A stitch clicks into place. A mistake that once felt intimidating suddenly makes sense. A new technique opens the door to a whole new kind of making.
That spirit of learning is alive and well at The Bear & Fox Yarn Den™, and the next few weeks are full of wonderful opportunities to join us—whether you’re learning yourself or encouraging the next generation of makers.
This Saturday: Crochet Necklace Workshop at Art in the Garden
April 18th, Drew will be teaching a special crochet necklace workshop during Art in the Garden, benefiting the Allegan Area Arts Council. This is such a fun project class—creative, approachable, and the perfect way to make something wearable while enjoying a beautiful community event. If you’ve ever wanted to explore crochet in an unexpected way, this is a lovely chance to do it.
This Sunday: Megan’s Knitted Balaclava Class Begins
Megan’s gorgeous balaclava class starts Sunday April 19th, and this two-session workshop is ideal for makers ready to stretch their knitting skills into something stylish, modern, and incredibly wearable. It’s one of those projects that feels both practical and impressive.
For Young Makers: Amanda’s Kids Crochet Class
May 9th Amanda’s delightful crochet class for ages 7–12 is the perfect introduction for young makers who are ready to learn the joy of creating with yarn. This class is designed to be welcoming, confidence-building, and fun, giving kids the chance to learn foundational skills while making something they can be proud of. Seats are extremely limited for this class; we encourage early registration.
There is something especially wonderful about seeing creativity spark early.
Later This Month: Lindsey’s How to Fix Knitting Mistakes
Every knitter needs this class.
On April 26th Lindsey will be leading a thoughtful, confidence-building session on how to recognize and fix the most common knitting mistakes—from dropped stitches to accidental increases, mysterious holes, and the little hiccups that can make a project feel overwhelming.
The truth is, mistakes are how we learn. Knowing how to fix them changes everything.
Whether you’re ready to make jewelry, tackle a statement knit, help a young maker get started, or finally stop fearing the dreaded dropped stitch, we would love to help you grow your skills with us this month.
From Our Hands to Your Hands
Teaching has always been one of the most meaningful parts of this creative journey for me.
Whether it was on the road during The Crochet Dude® years, in classrooms across the country, or now here at The Bear & Fox Yarn Den™, the joy is still the same: helping someone discover that they can do this.
Sometimes it starts with a necklace, sometimes a balaclava, sometimes a child learning their very first stitches, and sometimes with finally understanding how to rescue a mistake instead of starting over.
However it begins, the moment confidence clicks into place is pure magic.
We would love to be part of that moment with you this month.
Warmly,
Drew & Justin
