A Bunny Is Hop-ping Into The Den

Every now and then a project comes along that makes people stop mid-sentence, point across the shop, and say:

“Wait… what is that?”

That’s exactly what has been happening with the newest creature taking shape in The Den — an African Flower Bunny.

If you’ve ever seen African Flower motifs before, you know why people love them. They’re beautiful little hexagons that fit together like a patchwork quilt made of yarn. Normally they turn into blankets or bags… but this time we’re taking them in a slightly more whimsical direction.

We’re turning them into a bunny.

Meet Bobbin, the newest little resident of The Den. He appeared one afternoon made entirely of African Flower motifs and has been sitting quietly in the front window ever since.

And not just any bunny.

A charming, sculptural stuffed bunny made entirely from colorful African Flower motifs joined together.

It’s the kind of project that looks impressively complex when finished… but once you understand the rhythm of the motifs, it becomes wonderfully relaxing and addictive.

So of course, we thought it deserved its own class.

African Flower Bunny Class

In this two-session class, Drew the Bear will guide you step-by-step through the process of creating your own African Flower Bunny.

During our time together you’ll learn:

How to crochet the classic African Flower motif
Tips for keeping your motifs consistent and beautifully shaped
How the motifs join together to create the bunny’s body
Assembly techniques that make shaping the bunny simple and satisfying

By the end, you’ll have the knowledge — and a very good head start — to finish your very own bunny.

And fair warning…

Once you make one, you may suddenly find yourself planning a whole basket of them.

If you’ve looked at projects like this before and thought, “That’s adorable, but probably beyond me,” don’t count yourself out too quickly. This class is a great fit for crocheters who are comfortable with the basics and ready to try something a little special with plenty of guidance along the way.
